A Library In Turkey Was Built From Rescued Books
Ever wish your workplace had a library? In Çankaya, Turkey, sanitation workers made that dream a reality. They rescued books headed for the landfill and turned them into something everyone could share.
It all started when they began setting aside books from trash bins—at first for themselves, then for friends and family. As the collection grew, they needed more space.
The books were moved to an old brick factory, and by 2018, the space had officially become a public library. Today, it holds more than 40,000 books, including titles in over a dozen languages.
The workers even converted a garbage truck into a mobile library to bring books to rural schools and prisons.
Today, the workers say the library feels like home. And in a way, it is. What was once overlooked has become a gathering place—built from pages, persistence, and a quiet belief that something thrown away can still have a story worth sharing.

Sunset of the Day
This sunset came to us from The Canopy reader Victoria, who captured this quiet moment on a lakeshore framed by tall pines. The glowing clouds in the distance look almost painted, reflecting soft golden light across the water.
Thanks for sharing this peaceful scene, Victoria! Have a sunset that made you stop and take it all in? We’d love to see it—send it our way.

How to Get More From Fewer Clothes
Ever bought something on sale, worn it once, and never touched it again? We’ve all been there. But there’s a simple way to think differently about our clothes—without judgment or guilt.
It’s called cost per wear. You just divide the price of the item by how many times you’ll realistically wear it. A $70 sweater you wear 35 times costs $2 per wear. A $15 shirt worn once? That’s $15 per wear.
This approach doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy impulse buys or fun trends. It just gives you another tool to notice what you actually love and use. Maybe it helps you choose the jeans you’ll reach for weekly instead of the ones that sit in the drawer.
Small shifts like this can make shopping more satisfying and sustainable. And over time, they help build a closet that really works for you, one thoughtful choice at a time.

Vet Bills Don’t Have to Break the Bank
Don’t let a surprise vet bill torpedo your budget
Routine vet checkups are rising, and some surgeries can cost as much as a holiday in Europe. Fortunately, pet insurance can help offset these unexpected costs. With some policies starting at $10 and reimbursing up to 90%, you can keep your pet healthy without sacrificing your savings.
