Inside the UK’s First Fully Electric Stadium
Oxford United is taking a major step toward a cleaner future for sports: the club has approval to build the UK’s first all-electric football stadium. The $190 million project will sit just north of Oxford and operate entirely without fossil fuels, a rarity in the world of large sports venues. Solar panels covering more than 3,500 square meters of roof will generate on-site power, while air-source heat pumps will replace gas systems traditionally used for heating and cooling.
What makes this stadium especially forward-thinking is its design philosophy: reduce carbon from the beginning, not just during games. The roof will rely heavily on timber instead of steel or concrete, lowering the building’s overall footprint. Inside, heat recovery systems will reuse warmth from equipment and crowds, and the entire complex is being shaped to use energy more efficiently on busy matchdays. The club is also considering battery storage to hold extra solar power for night games.
Beyond football, the stadium will double as a community hub with gardens, ponds, cycle paths, a health center, and event spaces. If completed as planned for the 2027–28 season, it could become a model for how cities reimagine sports, energy use, and climate-friendly design.

Sunset of the Day
Leighy captured this soft autumn glow from her driveway, where the trees stand bare but the sky is full of warmth. The pink and purple streaks weave through the branches, casting just enough light to give the fallen leaves one last shimmer.
Thanks to Leighy for sending in this peaceful moment at home. Have a sunset or snapshot you’d love to share? We’d love to see it. Send it our way for a chance to be featured in The Canopy.

Make Expensive Candles Last With This Hack
If you’ve ever watched an expensive candle burn unevenly, leaving a ring of untouched wax around the jar, you’re not alone. Many candles tunnel, melting straight down instead of across, which means perfectly good wax gets wasted. A recent viral video shows an easy, low-waste fix that helps you reuse candle wax instead of tossing the jar in frustration.
Her method is surprisingly simple: pour hot water into the candle container, and the wax naturally floats to the top as it softens. Once it cools into a solid disc, you can lift it out and reuse it as a wax melt or remelt it to recreate a fresh candle. With a new wick and a quick melt-and-pour, that leftover wax becomes a few extra hours of cozy glow.
Viewers added their own practical tips, too. Some wrap foil around a candle during its first burn to prevent tunneling, while others melt leftover wax in the microwave. And candle makers confirm one thing: candles have “memory,” meaning the first burn helps shape every burn after. A little attention early on, and a few easy tricks, can turn any candle into a longer-lasting, lower-waste favorite.

Final Thoughts:
If you’ve been wanting a more grounded way to care for your health, Weight Loss by Hers provides clinician-guided support that adapts to your rhythms—not the other way around.
