Can Trees Help Make Clothes More Sustainable?

We rarely think about where our clothes come from—until we learn that a single cotton shirt can use over 700 gallons of water to produce. That’s a lot for something we might toss in the laundry without a second thought.

Now, researchers in Sweden are exploring a greener option: using fast-growing poplar trees to create soft, durable fabric. These trees can grow on land that isn’t good for farming, which means more space for food crops and less demand for water and chemicals.

Even better, the whole tree gets put to use. Besides making fiber, researchers can extract oil from leftover wood to use as biofuel. It's a more efficient way to make fabric, with a smaller environmental footprint.

We’re not saying you’ll be wearing bark anytime soon, but these forest-friendly fabrics could be one way to make fashion a little more sustainable.

Planting Trees Can Earn You Money

It’s not every day you hear about a way to support the planet and potentially earn a 600% return on your money. But that’s exactly what World Tree’s 2025 Eco-Tree Program offers.

Here’s how it works: World Tree partners with farmers to grow Empress trees—a fast-growing species that absorbs massive amounts of carbon. Once the trees are harvested, profits are shared among farmers, investors, and World Tree.

What does this mean? You could earn as much as $24,000 per acre. That’s a 600% return potential and offsetting carbon footprints!

Sunset of the Day in Copper Harbor

This sunset came to us from The Canopy reader Jan, who caught this peaceful scene in Copper Harbor just after the rain. We love how the golden glow lights up the sky and shimmers across the water.

There’s something extra special about the light that follows a storm—it’s softer, calmer, and full of quiet magic.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful moment, Jan. Have a sunset that made you stop and smile? We’d love to see it—send it our way!

How to Declutter Without Creating More Waste

If your spring cleaning bags are piling up by the door, you’re not alone. Letting go of things can feel good, but figuring out what to do with them is the tricky part.

Donation bins may seem like an easy solution, but sometimes these items don’t always stay in your community. Many are bundled up and shipped overseas, where they can contribute to growing waste problems.

A more thoughtful approach starts with slowing down. Can something be repaired, shared, or passed along to someone you know? Could a neighbor use it? When items are in good shape and still have life in them, finding them a new home nearby can make a real difference.

Think community centers, shelters, schools, or creative reuse programs. Some items might even find new life through repair cafes or neighborhood swap events.

And sometimes, old things aren’t always able to be repaired or reused, and that’s okay! If it’s broken beyond use, parts might still be able to be recycled in creative ways.

While letting go of things with care takes a little more effort, it keeps useful items out of landfills and helps them land where they’re truly needed.

Final Thoughts:

One acre = $24,000? That’s the upside of World Tree’s 2025 Eco-Tree Program. Get a piece of the harvest profits from trees growing 3X faster than traditional hardwood – and potentially offset your carbon footprint for a decade plus. Act fast to invest at the best possible price.

🌎 Did You Know: Solar panels work more efficiently in cooler temperatures. Despite being powered by sunlight, excessive heat can slightly reduce their performance.

🌅 Sunset Of The Day: The sun can provide the most beautiful photography. That's why we're eager to see your favorite sunrise or sunset photos. Reply to this email with your best sun-based pictures for a chance to be featured!
