How Jane Goodall’s Wisdom Still Inspires
Dr. Jane Goodall spent her life showing us how to care deeply, patiently, and without giving up. She passed away at 91, but the ripple effect of her work and words is still growing.
Whether she was studying chimpanzees in Tanzania or speaking to students about kindness and conservation, she reminded us that change starts close to home, with what we eat, what we buy, and how we treat the world around us.
She believed in young people more than anyone. Her Roots & Shoots program helped kids across the globe take small, hopeful steps to make a difference for people, animals, and the planet.
Her message to all of us? That our choices matter. That nature can heal. And that there’s still time, if we act together with love, courage, and care.

Sunset of the Day
The Canopy reader Beth shared this quiet view where the light filters gently through clouds, casting a soft glow over the hills and lake below. You can see the sun catching the water just right, one of those peaceful end-of-day moments that makes everything feel a little slower and calmer.
Thanks to Beth for sending this in. If you’ve captured a sunset that made you stop and breathe a little deeper, we’d love to see it too!

What to Do With Leftover Pumpkins
When the Halloween glow fades, most pumpkins end up in the trash (about a billion pounds of them every year in the U.S. alone). And when they rot in landfills, they release methane, a potent greenhouse gas. But your leftover jack-o’-lantern still has value.
You can compost it, turn it into homemade snacks, or even donate it to local farms or food banks. Just remove any candles, wax, or paint first. If your pumpkin is still in good shape, consider roasting the seeds, making a batch of pumpkin butter, or turning it into a planter with fall flowers.
Some communities even host “pumpkin smash” events that make composting fun for the whole family. However you do it, reusing your pumpkin is an easy way to reduce waste and keep the Halloween spirit going just a little longer.

Does your car insurance cover what really matters?
Not all car insurance is created equal. Minimum liability coverage may keep you legal on the road, but it often won’t be enough to cover the full cost of an accident. Without proper limits, you could be left paying thousands out of pocket. The right policy ensures you and your finances are protected. Check out Money’s car insurance tool to find the coverage you actually need.
