This Bench Charges Your PhoneāNo Outlet Needed
At some U.S. colleges, students are finding a new kind of benchāone that charges their phone while they relax outside. These solar-powered benches use sunshine to power outlets built right into the seat.
Each bench can charge up to eight devices at once, no cords or indoor outlets required. Even better? They work for up to five days without sun, thanks to built-in batteries. Itās a simple way to stay connected while enjoying fresh air.
The best part: schools donāt pay for them. The company that makes them covers the cost by using small ads on the sides. Students get clean energy and free charging, and schools get a sustainability boost.
For students, itās an easy upgrade. You sit, plug in, and charge your deviceāall without using electricity from the grid. And for schools, itās a small but smart step toward a more sustainable campus.

Sunset of the Day from New Zealand
This fiery sky was captured by The Canopy reader Duncan on Ponui Island, just off the coast of Auckland, New Zealand. The golden light and dramatic clouds create a breathtaking end to the dayālike the sky itself is taking a deep, glowing breath.
Thanks for sharing this stunning view with us, Duncan!

Colorado Declares Animals Matter Day
Colorado just gave animalsāand one iconic advocateāa heartfelt tribute. On her 91st birthday, Dr. Jane Goodall was honored with a new statewide holiday: Animals Matter Day.
Itās a simple but powerful way to recognize her decades of work protecting wildlife and inspiring others to do the same. Her nonprofit encouraged fans to join the celebration by doing something positive, like planting a tree, volunteering, or just spreading kindness.
People across the globe responded. Volunteers in California planted 90,000 native trees and flowers. In Argentina, conservationists sent birthday wishes from the wetlands theyāre rewilding with otters and jaguars.
Goodallās story, from a curious girl to a global changemaker, continues to spark action around the world. Now, she has a day to remind us allābig or small, every act of care matters.
