France Is Working to Slow Down Fast Fashion
France is taking a bold step to slow down the fast fashion cycle. A new law aims to hold major brands accountable for the environmental cost of ultra-cheap clothing. If it passes, these companies could face steep fines (up to half the price of each item) if they donât meet sustainability standards.
The goal is simple: make fashion less disposable. French lawmakers are worried about the rise of clothing thatâs worn once and tossed out, with the country throwing away 35 items every second. The law would also ban ads for fast fashion and require brands to share how their clothes impact the planet.
For shoppers, this could mean fewer $5 tops, but more awareness about where their clothes come from and how theyâre made. Itâs a reminder that slowing down, buying less, and choosing better can make a real difference. France might be leading the charge, but the shift toward mindful shopping is something anyone can take part in.

Sunset of the Day in Long Beach
Todayâs sunset of the day comes from The Canopy reader Ben, who shared this fiery sky from Long Beach, New York. The boardwalk glow completes the horizon. Streetlights flicked on just as the sky turned electric, and for a few minutes, everything felt in sync.
Thank you for sharing, Ben! If youâve caught a sunset that stopped you in your tracks, send it in for your chance to be featured. Weâd love to see it đ

Sustainable Ways to Love Your Home
You donât need a new house or a haul of new decor to fall in love with where you live. Sometimes, the most sustainable home makeover starts with appreciating whatâs already around you.
Start by simplifying. Decluttering, cleaning, and reusing what you already own can make your space feel brand new. A freshly made bed, a clear countertop, or sunlight hitting a houseplant can shift the entire mood of a room. If something truly needs replacing, try finding it secondhand before buying new.
Most of all, focus on gratitude. Every squeaky floorboard and mismatched mug tells a story of the life youâre building. Learning to love your home as it is, imperfections and all, does more than bring peace of mind. It keeps waste out of landfills, saves resources, and reminds you that sustainability starts right where you are.

Debt sucks. Getting out doesnât have to.
Americansâ credit card debt has surpassed $1.2 trillion, and high interest rates are making it harder to catch up (yes, even if youâre making your payments). If youâre in the same boat as millions of Americans, debt relief companies could help by negotiating directly with creditors to reduce what you owe by up to 60%. Check out Moneyâs list of the best debt relief programs, answer a few short questions, and get your free rate today.
