How Mercedesā New Brakes Help You and the Planet
Mercedes has designed a new type of brake that might never need replacingāa big deal for both drivers and the planet. Unlike regular brakes, which wear down over time and create dust that pollutes the air and water, this system is built inside the EVās motor, keeping everything cleaner and reducing maintenance costs.
Brake dust is a major source of pollution, but Mercedesā new design traps it inside the system instead of releasing it into the air. The brakes also work more efficiently, meaning no annoying squeaks, no rust buildup after a few rainy days, and no costly trips to the shop for replacements.
Instead of traditional brake pads and rotors, this system uses a spinning pad that presses against a disc to slow the car down. Itās built to last much longer and works more smoothly, which could make electric vehicles even more appealing.
Mercedes hasnāt said when these brakes will be available, but as EV technology keeps improving, cars are becoming not just cleaner but also easier and cheaper to maintain.

Finlandās Forest Schools Are Changing Education
Imagine a kindergarten where kids spend most of their day outside, climbing trees, digging in the dirt, and learning math by counting leaves. Thatās exactly how Finlandās āforest schoolsā operateāgiving young children a chance to learn in nature instead of sitting at desks.
These schools are part of a growing movement that recognizes the huge benefits of outdoor learning. Studies show that kids who spend time outside do better on math and reading tests, have stronger social skills, and even show fewer symptoms of ADHD. Plus, instead of short recess breaks, they get hours of active play while exploring the natural world.
The best part? This approach isnāt just for kids in Finland. More outdoor-based programs are popping up in the U.S., especially in New England, and theyāre showing success in schools with lower-income students. One school near Atlanta, where kids spend 30% of their day outside, saw test scores rise dramatically.
As more research highlights the connection between time in nature and academic success, outdoor classrooms may become the future of early educationāgiving kids the best of both learning and play.
