Thrift Shopping Tips for Finding Hidden Gems
Thrift shopping is a fun, sustainable way to refresh your wardrobe without spending a fortune. But if you've ever felt overwhelmed by the racks of random clothing, you’re not alone. Knowing what to look for can make all the difference.
Start with a plan. Keep a list of what you actually need to avoid impulse buys. Thrift stores don’t display outfits like traditional retailers, so having an idea of your personal style helps you focus. Saving inspiration photos on your phone can keep you on track.
Quality is key. Look for natural fabrics like cotton, wool, and linen, which last longer and don’t shed microplastics like synthetics. Check seams, zippers, and buttons to make sure everything is in good shape. A tailor can help adjust pieces that almost fit.
Thrifting isn’t just about saving money—it’s about reducing waste and making more intentional fashion choices. With the right approach, you’ll walk away with unique, long-lasting pieces while giving clothes a second life.

Every 24 hours, 27,000 trees are cut down…
To make toilet paper. To us, that feels like way too many — and Honeycomb agrees. That’s why this small, female-founded brand created luxury, three-ply toilet tissue made from bamboo. It feels just like regular high-end toilet paper, but doesn’t harm trees.
So why bamboo? It’s the fastest-growing plant in the world — growing 100 times faster than the average tree — which means thousands of rolls can be produced in the time it takes for a single tree to grow back.
Even better? Code CAN30 will give new customers 30% off their first order for the next 24 hours.

Students on a Mission to Protect the Seas
For six months, students aboard the sailing vessel Thalassa aren’t just attending class—they’re learning how to live sustainably while traveling the world. The School at Sea program takes 15- to 17-year-olds on an unforgettable journey where education, teamwork, and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.
With 37 students and 9 crew members on board, sustainability is a top priority. Laundry is done sparingly, fresh water is carefully managed, and clothes are air-dried on deck. The ship is also equipped with microfibre filters to prevent tiny plastic particles from entering the ocean, an important step in reducing pollution.
Beyond daily routines, students take action to protect marine life. They organize beach cleanups, track plastic pollution, and even conduct scientific research on microplastics in different waters. Their hands-on learning experience connects them to the environment in ways a traditional classroom never could.
As they sail through Panama, Cuba, and beyond, these students are proving that education can be an adventure—and that small actions can make a big difference for the planet.
